Just a short post today…a comment and some questions…But first God’s word… BTW, The questions below aren’t trick questions…I would really like to know the answers?
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
This passage reminds me of another passage…
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
“How are people in our world oppressed by injustice supposed to believe that God is good? What is God’s plan for making it believable that He is good and that He cares about those who are suffering in our world? It turns out that the Bible says, we are his plan, and He doesn’t have another plan.” Matthew 5:15-16 say to let our light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I agree with Gary that the church is God’s plan for bringing hope and light to a lost and suffering world. This brings me to some questions.
- How are we as the church living up our call to be witnesses of the light and to let our light shine before this suffering world?
- How can we let our light shine brighter so that those who are suffering from injustice might believe that God is good?
